About TenneT
Europe’s energy transition aims to make Europe climate-neutral by 2050. The Netherlands and Germany have ambitious goals for offshore wind energy—30 GW and 22.2 GW respectively by 2030. TenneT plays a key role by delivering this energy from North Sea wind farms to the mainland through its 2GW program.
Unit Large Projects Offshore NL (LON)
In response to the Energy agreement and Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap 2030, TenneT is preparing a roll-out strategy including IJmuiden Ver (DC) projects. This involves realizing multiple 2GW HVDC Grid Connection Systems between 2028 and 2030.
The 2GW program
TenneT will implement several 525 kV bipolar HVDC connections (2 GW capacity each) in the Dutch and German North Sea between 2028 and 2031 as part of this initiative. More info: https://www.tennet.eu/nl/het-2gw-program
