Large Projects Offshore NL (LON):
Based on the Energy agreement, where the targets and intentions for the transition to a more renewable energy supply are set, the Roadmap Offshore wind energy 2030 and the ambition to realise additional windcapacity prior to 2030 a roll-out strategy is being prepared for the medium term, including the IJmuiden Ver (DC) projects. This results in a commitment for TenneT to realise at least 2x (with potential up to 5) 2GW HVDC Grid Connection Systems which bring the power from offshore wind-farms in the North sea to the Dutch electricity grid to be commissioned between 2028 – 2030.

Team Stations & Auxiliary Systems
The Stations & Auxiliary Systems team is responsible for all civil and structural engineering aspects of offshore platforms, transport and installation, and the engineering of land stations that connect to the grid. This includes designing auxiliary systems for both platforms and land stations — a complex and dynamic area of work. Your role will involve not only delivering high-quality engineering but also driving smarter work practices and increasing HSE standards across the team. In total there are 13 colleagues in the team, all technical specialists with their own technical specialisme (civil, structural, auxiliary systems, etc.).

2GW Program
Europe’s energy transition is among the greatest challenges of our time. Its goal: To make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050 at the latest. The Netherlands and Germany have therefore set themselves ambitious goals to expand offshore wind energy: as early as 2030, Germany and the Netherlands want to reach a capacity of 30 and 22.2 Gigawatts, respectively. Energy from offshore wind farms in the European powerhouse North Sea will play in this a crucial role. TenneT guarantees that this energy will reach the mainland – and in the most environmentally friendly way possible. That is why we have developed the 2GW program with a unique transnational approach. And thus increase the pace and efficiency of the energy transition.
Between 2028 and 2031, TenneT will realize the following 525 kV bipolar connections of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) with a capacity of 2 GW each in designated wind areas in the Dutch and German North Sea. Deze projecten zijn onderdeel van het 2GW Program.

Position
As the Lead Stations & Auxiliary Systems, you will guide a team of experts who provide essential engineering, technical knowledge, and services needed for the success of large-scale offshore projects. From the early stages of development through to construction, installation, and final commissioning, your team will play a pivotal role in ensuring these projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across TenneT, ensuring minimal risks and maximum efficiency while contributing to the delivery of grid connection systems that support our energy future.

Your Key Responsibilities
– Lead, motivate, and support the talented team in the Engineering & Services department.
– Foster a culture of continuous learning, ensuring improvements and cost reduction across all projects.
– Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders such as Asset Management, System Operations, and Grid Field Operations, facilitating smooth communication and collaboration.
– Oversee design reviews and quality assurance measures, ensuring your team’s work meets the highest standards throughout the engineering and construction phases.
– Ensure compliance with technical standards and actively contribute to the development of new business processes.
– Manage team resources, ensuring the right expertise is in place for the successful delivery of grid connection projects.
– Encourage process development within the team, looking for innovative ways to improve work methods and affordability.
– Implement cross-departmental strategies and support working groups to contribute to project success.

Conditions
– At entry, TenneT performs a Pre-Employment Screening.
– Scale 18 (collective labour agreement TenneT TSO).
– Duty station is Arnhem (2 days a week, whereby Monday is an obligated day), other days hybrid.
– Helaas is een freelancer geen optie voor deze functie.
– Voor deze functie zal TenneT één interview met de kandidaat hebben (bij voorkeur op locatie in Arnhem).

Eisen

• In het bezit van een Bachelor’s of Master’s degree in engineering (civiel, werktuigbouwkundig, elektrotechnisch of een gerelateerd vakgebied).
• Sterke leiderschapservaring in teammanagement, inclusief het ontwikkelen en begeleiden van teamleden.
• Aantoonbare ervaring met het succesvol leveren van resultaten in een technische of engineering functie, bij voorkeur binnen offshore- of infrastructuurprojecten.
• Aantoonbare ervaring als change manager met een praktische, hands-on aanpak.
• Vermogen om bij te dragen aan en verbeteringen te implementeren in procesefficiëntie en workforce (FTE) planning.
• Hoge mate van operationele gereedheid en het vermogen om het team te motiveren richting gezamenlijke doelen.
• Uitstekende communicatieve vaardigheden in zowel Nederlands als Engels.
• Analytisch en gestructureerd denkvermogen met een resultaatgerichte instelling.
• Ervaring met werken in een matrix teamomgeving.
• Gedegen kennis van kwaliteit- en HSE-standaarden en het vermogen deze binnen het team te verhogen.
• Medische geschiktheid voor offshore werkzaamheden conform de DGMM-standaard.
• Ervaring binnen de energiesector of offshore (ook olie & gas) óf ervaring met grote infrastructurele projecten (zoals binnen RWS).
• People management is belangrijk, maar het begrijpen van de wereld van technische specialisten is essentieel (inzicht in hun behoeften, extra werk, noodzaak tot externe inhuur of nieuwe collega’s).
• De kandidaat moet beschikbaar zijn gedurende de gehele looptijd van de opdracht.
• De kandidaat dient in loondienst te zijn (freelancer is niet mogelijk voor deze positie).
• Standplaats is Arnhem (2 dagen per week op kantoor, waarvan maandag verplicht), overige dagen hybride.
• De kandidaat moet in het bezit zijn van een geldig paspoort of ID-kaart en deze meenemen naar het interview en bij de start van de opdracht.
• Pre-employment screening (waaronder VOG-aanvraag) dient succesvol afgerond te zijn vóór de start van de opdracht.

Wensen

• Ervaring met het begeleiden van organisatieveranderingen (resctructurering) is een absolute pré; gezocht wordt naar een technisch change manager met sterke people skills.
• In staat zijn om actief bij te dragen aan procesoptimalisatie, efficiënt gebruik van FTE’s en ondersteuning van FTE-planning.
• Hands-on mentaliteit.
• In staat zijn om met een technisch hart naar resourceplanning te kijken en de behoeften van technische specialisten te begrijpen (bijvoorbeeld: extra werk, noodzaak tot externe inhuur of nieuwe collega’s).
• Ervaring met het stimuleren van een cultuur van continu leren, verbeteringen en kostenreductie over projecten heen.
• In staat zijn om innovatieve manieren te vinden om werkmethoden en betaalbaarheid te verbeteren binnen het team.
• Vermogen om als belangrijkste aanspreekpunt te fungeren voor stakeholders zoals Asset Management, System Operations en Grid Field Operations, en soepele communicatie en samenwerking te faciliteren.
• In staat zijn om teamresources te managen en te zorgen voor de juiste expertise voor succesvolle oplevering van grid connection projecten.
